We are searching for a permanent Database Administrator (DBA) for this Edmonton office. Your main responsibilities will include designing, developing and maintaining databases and database infrastructure for internal and external groups. Main Responsibilities
* Administer, create, maintain and monitor databases of external client and internal groups including applying patches, scripting and applying installations and upgrades as needed
* Design and implement relational database schema using normalization principles
* Write & debug PL/SQL scripts in this XML, DB2, Oracle and Windows environment
* Support DB2 and Oracle production environments, including performance monitoring and tuning
* Manage system and database configuration changes and document server access for all systems
* Troubleshoot performance problems and conduct performance tuning
* Provide software and hardware support for critical production systems, including backup and restore and capacity planning activities
* Design and implement relational database schema using normalization principles
* Installs, maintains, and monitors software and hardware while troubleshooting technical problems as they arise
* Design and manage database-level security and access control
Position Requirements
* Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related discipline
* 3-5+ years recent relevant experience as a database administrator with similar responsibilities
* Advanced technical expertise with the ability to learn quickly and master new technologies
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Expert with PL/SQL scripts and stored procedures
* Ability to mentor and supervise other DBAs as needed
* Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
